Firstly I was wondering if it was too late to apply/enroll at Universities for this coming september, baring in mind I'm 20 and I already have grades from college (graduated 2 years ago). As far as I'm aware I have 270 UCAS points from college plus ive done a few courses since and will have completed my AAT Technician next week or December depending on any resits (doing 3 papers this time round).
I only really asking as tbh I am so sick of working Job1 as an accounts assistant 9-5 Mon - Fri and then Saturdays in Tesco just to earn what I would consider a not even decent wage and was looking for a change in direction more like Project Management or doing some sort of Business Degree and would more than gladly move away from home. 20 years old and still at home doing nothing, but hey dad asks for no rent :)

Too late for this year yes, but you can start applying for next year in just a few months. I will be doing the same. :)

I'll also be 20/21 before i go to uni, but hey

too late...nah go through clearing.

might be a bit rushed though if you don't already know what you want to do.

I would wait and apply for next year that way you get what you really want.

There are plenty of very good bussiness schools around the country and you seem well qualified, I think you have a good chance.

Have you had much work experience since finishing college?

Ive been working since the day i finsihed college in an office. done all the little things like ECDL, and the IT Key Skills etc just really bored at the moment. well not really just now been like this since last year when basically everyone from school/college moved away and there is no uni where i live

With some work experience you could go far in UCAS. It's an area where most bussiness schools will focus, previous experience is valuable.

I would recommend a Mangement with IT course. I know Lancaster (where I am) do one. Although, quite intensive, graduate prospects are some of the best in the uni - up there with engineering and law.

you can still apply for ucas at the moment

do you need to be registered with ucas to go through clearing or is it a case of ringing the individual unis when the time comes ?

Think you have to part of UCAS, not 100% on that though.

I'm in the same situation-

get on the ucas website and fill in the form like any other person.

Your not old enough for a mature student thing yet. Its just like applying if you were at school. BTW i'm 20 gunna be 21 when i go. seriously can't wait! wish i was going this year really!

My initial thought was to apply this November-January and figured the course would start September 2009. However, looking on the UCAS website, it states the deadline for 2009 courses was January this year, so If i apply November-January this year, then i'll end up going September 2010? Am I right in thinking this?

Being 21 this would mean I would be 23 before I went, sort of puts me off a little.

Apologies for hijacking the thread :)

You still have until the 30th of June.

it might not technically too late, but a lot of places will be gone by now, id wait a year an plan it, instead of rushing, decide what you really want to do and where to go. take ** time about it, research a lot more.

starting uni at 20 is not late at all.
there are afew ppl over 25 in my course and i m in year one.

BigglesPiP have you looked into student house around your uni, they might even be cheaper but usually can be a 12 months contract tho
