UNIX gurus!?

How do you want to store them? Obviously you can store them in a flat text file, but that's probably not what you're talking about. Are you talking about some sort of Active Directory-like system?
 
I think you might want to look into Network Information Services (NIS), It allows centralized storage of things like users, groups and passwords.

I don't however have any idea if there is a windows client for NIS.

Yeah, like an active directory system I guess. i.e. the user enters their username and password and it goes off to the unix box to verify. Then when logged in, that users My Docs, etc is available (not stored locally)
 
You want to integrate with an existing AD system, or you just want domain-esque control like AD on a purely *nix network?
