Unknown connections

Hi all,

Just moved into a new house and there are some TV connections that I don't recognise. All I need is a normal TV coax connection.

Apparently there is sky in the complex, and that some of these connections may be related to that.

Please see the attached image. I'm guessing that the cables from the left are from the aerial, and I'm somehow meant to use the cables on the right to connect to my TV. You can see that some of them go into a socket, but I've no idea where they go or what they do. I'm not interested in using those sockets; I'm quite happy to connect directly to the cables on the left, if that will work.

Any ideas on how to solve this please? By the looks of things, I will need to go and purchase some connectors/cables to fit these cables.

Difficult to be certain, but I would say the two black cables coming out of the socket in the wall are the ones coming from the complexes central SKY system.

The white cable with black tape around it, looks like it has an adapter on the end giving you a normal coax type end to put into your TV.

It is hard to say what the cables on the left are, as we cannot see where they come from
 
The white cable with the tape definitely looks like a normal coax. Adaptor put onto a type F connector.

The rest look like the same type F connector used by Sky *amongst others*
The pairs of black cable certainly look like the normal Sky cables. But 2 sets coming into the same place? Doesn't make sense. The others though, no clue. I'm genuinely surprised they've used the same connector for everything though.

Don't suppose you got contact details for the previous occupier? May we worth shooting them a message if you have.
 
Agree the white one with black tape looks like a TV aerial connector. The socket looks like its got a normal aerial coax plug in then to an F connector (for some reason) then to a tv aerial coax. All the others are F type connector coax. The twin black F connector leads suggest these were the Sky TV ones. Why there are four who knows. Could be two of the black ones were used for Sky TV and the other two used for a Freesat box. Strange to have that many F connectors/sat feeds if so.

Best bet is to beg/borrow a freesat or Sky TV box and plug them in to test. Even though you dont have a Sky TV account you will still get freeview channels from them. Just plug a tv into the socket where the white cable/black tape goes for your TV freeview needs.
