Shortly after installing Windows 8 on my PC, one of my hard drives completely vanished. I'd assumed that I was unlucky and it had died on me, but I just went into the device manager to check what the other hard drives I had were so I know which one I should remove (the joys of having 4 3.5" hard drives), when I noticed there was an 'unknown device'. Looking at it, the location is Bus Number 1, Target Id 0, LUN 0. This matches almost exactly with the other drives I have, except for the different bus numbers, so I'm pretty certain this is the dead hard drive. However, it is being reported that 'This device is working properly.'
Looking in the events tab, I see 4 events.
21/01/2013 21:16:48 Device configured (null)
21/01/2013 21:16:50 Device Started
21/01/2013 21:16:59 Device configured (null)
21/01/2013 21:16:59 Device Started
So... does this mean that there is actually an issue with drivers and that my hard drive isn't actually dead? There wasn't anything on there that I couldn't afford to lose, but equally it would save lots of time if I could just do something and have the hard drive back working again.
Thanks!
