Just done a fresh install on this board. Onboard audio is disabled. Installed 430 chipset, videocard, sata, smbus, lan drivers. Haven't installed nividia firewall. Installed m-audio drivers. The only card in the machine is a M-Audio. I have a unknown device and I cannot work out what it is. Any ideas?
I believe it's an ACPI device. I had the same thing with both my A8N-SLi and my mum's A8N VM CSM. You'll find the drivers on the CD in the Software\AMD\ACPI\Win2000 folder (if you're using 32 bit Windows but 64 bit drivers are in that ACP folder also).
The device it will install is "ATK0110 ACPI UTILITY". I'm not sure what it does or what happens with it not being installed, but I hate uninstalled devices showing in Device Manager
As a side note, has anyone had any issues with the onboard sound on the CSM? I've installed the latest drivers for everything and every so often, as it's booting Windows and about to play the startup sound, the speakers pop and the PC reboots. It can do this 2 or 3 times before it'll go into Windows but when it does, it's rock solid. I've disabled the onboard sound and it's fine after that.
