For a good while there has been a device on my wireless Linksys routers connected device list that is unknown to me. It's listed as being ethernet connected has a MAC address that when I search online for the MAC address it says the vendor is Microsoft which doesn't really help narrow it down one interesting thing is it is only listing a iPv6 address and no iPv4 address.

I have told the Linksys to block the connection and I haven't noticed anything thing stop working on the network so that doesn't even help narrow it down. Any suggestions on how I can find out what this device is?

Do you have a managed switch or anything like that on the network? (though they wouldn't normally be identified as a MS device but then MACs are really reliable as an indicator like that).

No nothing like that, only thing like that is a 5 port Ethernet box but that would have an IPv6 address

Any smart device. Fridge? Thermosat? My Hive use to say unknown device, the newer models appear correctly. Older sky boxes and other set top boxes.
