Recently purchased a new rig. And the screen just goes black randomly and stays black until I reset it, the computer has power the entire time as the LEDs on the case stay lit up.
Also less frequently the computer will ram fly reset its self.

Any idea what the problem could be?

AMD FX 8350 Eight Core 4Ghz Processor with 4.2GHz Turbo Clocking Speeds
32GB DDR3 1333Mhz RAM
AMD HD7850 1GB DDR5 Graphics Card
GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3 uATX Motherboard
650W Power Supply

Running Windows 8.1

Thanks. My first thought was power supply issues. Whilst that unit isn't the best in the world it certainly isn't the worst either.

Have you tried resetting the BIOS to defaults, removing the overclock?

If that doesn't work try running with one stick of RAM at a time to rule out a bad stick

Thanks. I'll give it a go tomorrow when I'm back from work.
I initially thought it may be the power supply, a fault because it must be getting enough power. But I'd have no idea of how to diagnose a hardware problem apart from if I had spares to replace them and just change each piece one at a time.

I've had a powercool psu go pop with a similar setup. It coped fine with the fx and 7850 but just gave up with a 7970. Mine was 750w. I put it down to experience and haven't cheaped out on a psu again.

Try setting the power control to 20% for the 7850,it'll be in catalyst control centre/amd overdrive

You might also need more CPU northbridge voltage with 32gb of ram

Thanks for the help guys. Found out it was a hardware fault with the GPU. Got sold a faulty one, and apparently the guy knew it was faulty.

Next step is overclocking it and adding more fans/or watercooling.

No refund. Just a new card.

I ran heaven benchmark while the computer was semi-usable and got an FPS of 34.5 on ultra settings.
I tried it today with the new card in and got 50.4 FPS on ultra settings. Just need something to push me above 60 and I'm happy.

One of my best friends spent about 150-200 less than me and achieves 45. I need to blow him out of the water ha

it depends on each card but most 7850's will run 1050mhz core and 1375-1400mhz memory without adding any extra voltage

I never bothered running mine faster than that, though the do bench higher

Didn't even get chance to start on OCing.

Power supply blew on my rig, getting another psu on Wednesday. Hopefully it's not damaged the motherboard.

Got given a new power supply. Same brand, 750w though.

I'm going to purchase another PSU and larger case when I get money back in my bank.
