I have a Biostar MCP6P M2+ Ver. 6.x mb with a Phenom II X2 550BE, and am wondering if it's possible to unlock the extra Cores on the CPU with my mb?

I know there's no guarantee if unlocking the cores are possible, but I'm am willing to give it a go.

I did this for a customer the other day, Albeit with a Phenom X4 and a different Biostar board. These are the steps I took:

  1. Flash your boards newest BIOS (Also check for the unlocking facility)
  2. Check all your settings
  3. Ensure your CPU is getting an adequate amount of voltage
  4. On boot there should be a line of text that says "Press [F3/F4] to enable Bio-unlocking"
  5. After inputting F3 and/or F4, the system should attempt to unlock your cores
  6. Test it in Windows
  7. ???
  8. PROFIT

Tell me how you get on mate

Thanks Blacked Out, but my mb doesn't have Bio-unlocking feature.
Want to keep my Phenom cpu as it's a great chip, but do you know any decent m-atx mb
that have the features of unlocking CPU cores as there's so many mb's out there. And be able to fit the new graphics cards.

Its and socket AM2 board, according to Biostar it doesn't support the cpu you're using. Also I think its only AMD chipsets with SB710 and SB750 that can unlock cores, the board has an nvida chipset.
