Hey all,

This is intentionally in the Mobile section iso the Apple section - as it more relates to my service provider than the actual handset.

Does anyone know the procedure for unlocking an iPhone currently on an O2 contract so another network SIM can be used with it? I've looked and their site and found nothing and checked g00gle and all i get is redsn0w hits...which isn't how i want to do it.

Cheers.

If you are out of contract - phone O2 up and request the unlock code.
I believe they can charge a "nominal fee" for this - usually around £15.
If you're still under contract, O2 won't unlock it.

My brother has just done this for a friend of mine on his O2 3GS. I'm not sure if we are allowed to discuss these types of unlocking and jailbreak applications here though ( Can't find a "Sticky" but I'm sure we aren't allowed to link to such stuff from here ) ?.

Just in case the Dons frown upon it, I wont link to it but he used an application called pwnage. He's now running a Vodaphone SIM in it.
