Nothing has happened so far there has been no settlement, he wants to keep everything (2 houses jointly owned,)
Her (previous) solicitor said she should settle for 40k cash and walk away
New solicitors wants 450k (50% the value of the 2 jointly owned homes) + 200k ( half another house he purchased with rent) + as a separate action all the fees paid to the previous solicitor + reporting them to some body or other because of what she said to the other party and the stupidly low offer and dragging it out for so long / turning up for court unprepared
Neither of them are right in the head, he honestly thinks she should have nothing, she is only doing anything because I told her this situation is not right.. She only changed solicitors (again) because I told her this should not be taking years..
this is still ongoing! She has a new solicitor who has started action against the previous solicitor to recover all fees and report her to the ?who ever you report solicitors to?..
I assume the new solicitor knows what she is doing, all that is in hand, i only attended the first meeting with the new solicitor she was confused and stunned with the length of time this has been going on for, the proposed settlement and the advice she had been given by the previous solicitor.. since then we got the transcripts / call recording from the previous solicitor ( we had to go to the office to get them, they did not look happy).. new solicitor said that because he had been letting the 2 jointly owned properties for 20 years and keeping all the money it was partly her money that paid for the extra home (purchased after she left him)In all seriousness, if this is true they aren't going to get 650k as a settlement from him, because that's not how it works but she can force the sale of both or occupy 1 of the properties.
She should be able to apply for an occupation order for at least 1 of the properties, which will legally bar him from that property
She can also goto court to force the sale of jointly owned properties if he is refusing and she would then have control over sale of said properties.
If the property isn't actually jointly owned and she can show receipts she paid £200k towards she can claim part or full ownership

2 properties are joint owned, they both own a house each + 1 he purchased after she left (5 properties total)... the 2 joint houses are worth about 650k and 350k he has kept the rent from both for probably 25/28 years now (which is why the solicitor think she can get part of the newly purchased house)
