Tried loading up the laptop and it blue screens, and comes up with Unmountable Boot Volume.

I've put the windows 7 disc in to try and repair but all it does is goings to the loading files screen - any idea how i can get it to load the repair section?

Cheers

When you boot from the Windows 7 disc you have a Repair button at the bottom of the first window (after language selection). Do you not get this? It should offer a command prompt, repair, etc.

no doesn't get to that bit.

It reads the disc and then just continues to loads windows 7, that loads up but all that is shown on the screen is the white cursor and black background.

Download Ubuntu, burn it to a disc, boot from that and see if you can get to the hard drive & your files. At least then you can find out if it's still alive.

Have you checked that the hard drive is still showing up in the BIOS?
