high guys, i have been having lots of blue screens rwecently, mainly on starting windows up, and also some game crashes due to file errors, i formatted, still the same, then i ran mem tet, 3 out of 4 sticks were dead, still got bsod, then i ran orthos for 8 hours! no errors on the 1 gig ive got in and at 3.4ghz overclock.

so, im starting to think its my hard drive, anyone know of a way to test all hardware to see if there are any errors, specialy the hard drive?

cheers, ags

Hi, goto the Hard Drive manufacture website and look for their diagnostics software for the drives and run the tests on them. What do you mean, 3 of the 4 sticks were dead running memtest??

If you got the remaining 1 Gb stick and the CPU overclocked to 3.4 running orthos for 8 hrs with no errors, that tell me that the BSOD was with the 3 sticks of RAM being faulty and nothing to do with the HDD being faulty, and also memtest only test the ram not repair it.

i ran each stick seperatly, removed all 3 dead sticks, and i have one good one left, ive rma'ed the 3 dead sticks, well 2 for now cos i can only send a pair at a time. i ran orthos with just the 1 decent stick in. and ill look on WD's website now. i just had another bsod after ending the steam process lol, getting random bsod's and i cant work out what the hell its comeing from.

Then it is probably an HDD fault, as I kept having the BSOD or the 0c stop error message and I spent ages fault finding until I ran the Maxator drive tool and found the drive had errors, change the drive and no problems after.

well, im just waiting for my mate to stop stealing from my drive, then ill have no hdd activity and run the tool and hope that it gives a error, cos i have 2 raptors, and one is inactive atm, so i can use that as a spare until this one gets rma'd lol

try running your pc at stock, if it runs fine @ stockm its your overclock

i ran everything at stock, was fine with orthos and ntune stress test, then i have just clocked cpu back up to 3.0ghz, running fine, wonderfully, but as soon as i go abover 1300mhz on the fsb, the mobo shows -- on the lcd poster and just wont boot... it was going at 3.6 less than 3 weeks ago, doesnt make sense.

my asus p5n-e did the same, seems asus and nvidia have bad ram slot problems, u will find the new ram will break too iirc

aye, i had 4 gigs of dominator, my asus striker extreme ruined all of them within 2 days, now i got this new bfg board which ive never had any problems with.

i just cant seem to find anyone that has had the same problem im having

guys, i have been testing parts in other pc's and nothings wrong, is it possible my mobo is restricting the overclock because its faulty? because that would explain the ram failure previously.
