Just got myself (yesterday), an A64 3800+ X2, Abit AN8 SLI, Gainward GLH BLISS 512MB 7800GT, and im running it (at the moment) with my old ram (1GB Corsair XMS PRO 3200LLPT), my old HDD's (Samsung Spinpoint SATAII 80GB's), and a hiper 580W Modular PSU (All built into my old coolermaster ATCS-201-SXK).

No matter what I do, it will NOT install windows XP, just BSOD's with a STOP error "page fault in non-paged area", which I beleive is synonymous with memory problems?

Are there any known compatibility issues with my gear, or is there something I can try?

Cheers guys, pulling my hair out here!

Well I do know X2's don't work brilliantly on the Fatality version of the AN8 however I don't think that is the problem here as I was able to install windows ok. It just wasn't particularly stable and even a bios patch wasn't great.

Page faults, are either harddrive or memory issues (more often than not memory) i would download memtest and give it a whirl, you'll probably find that its bad memory. You can download a bootable CD iso (about 1-2 MB in size) from http://www.memtest.org, the ISO can be burnt to CD from Nero or any half decent software application.

Thing is, the memory was fine in my old rig, and I have also tried 5 sticks of ram, both in pairs, and on their own, in every combination of slots. Nothing :(

If it is instabilities with the AN8 (non-fatal1ty version) and X2's then i'll be mightily annoyed seeing as every shop and abit themselves say that they are compatible.

Most likely memory errors, have you tried increasing the memory voltage a little?
Or manually setting the timings to slower/higher ones like 3-3-3-10 ?

I also get BSOD's when my VCore is too low, but this is only when overclocking

Just mem-testing the memory now, although 1 stick so far has passed (testing them all on their own).

Could try increasing the voltage I suppose, but according to the BIOS, the voltage is rock stable, and is actually higher than it was in my old board. Timings are also at stock at the moment, and I KNOW the memory runs faster (as I used to run them faster).

Try changing your BIOS setting from auto to spd and if that does not work then manual.

It will set your memory timing from 1Tto 2T if thats the problem once installed look for a memory utility to change it back!

Will try the above. HDD low level checks have passed fine, as have a good 4+ passes of memtest on each stick!

If memory and hard drive pass tests, changing the voltages doesn't work, and the compatability of motherboard and processor have been confirmed, you may have a faulty M/B.

If your current crop of attempts to resolve it don't work i would suggest either trying another bios, or RMA'ing the board.

Tried different IDE/SATA cables? Try having a minimal setup, unused components removed/disconnected.

Thought it could be PSU, so was running bare minimum, one stick of ram, one HDD, one CD-ROM, minimal number of fans etc etc.

May well stick in an enermax noisetaker when I get a chance, see if that helps.

Will have to wait till im home now, but yeah if the other suggestions don't fix it, i would have tried that anyways.

In theory they are compatible ( with a BIOS patch ) but in my experience it's an unstable combination. I had two 3800+ X2/AN8 Fatal1ty rigs and both had problems with stability and shutting down without warning. Replaced the mobo with an asus Crossfire fixed the problem.
