Hi, hope you can help. I have the following but am getting 100% CPU usage when gaming causing performance issues and feel its time to refresh my CPU. I believe I will also need a new motherboard as part of this so what would you recommend. Im thinking Ryzen 3600 due to price point but unclear if thats best option:

CPU: Intel i5-6600k
GPU: GTX1080
Memory: 16gig (mix of 8 gig ddr4-2400 and 8 at ddr4-2132)
Board: MSI B150M Mortar

Thanks in advance

The Ryzen 3600 would be a great step up but like you say it will require a new motherboard AM4 platform....

The quad core CPU's are now getting a bit long in the tooth now for gaming... Do you have a budget in mind?

I def cant be affording a new GPU also so have to limit my purchase to minimum ie id like to keep the memory too if its possible. As for the CPU and board I didnt really want to exceed max of £300, ideally less if possible.
Have seen the 3600 for 150 quid so if you could advise the best board for it that would be great

Your GPU is fine and will keep you going for a while yet... For the Ryzen 3600 you'll be looking at a MSI B450 Max board as they work straight out the box with Ryzen 3000 series otherwise you'll be needing a older Ryzen CPU to flash the board BIOS...

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £241.00 (includes shipping: £11.10)

These are the two most recommended boards, I've had experience with the Mortar board and would definitely buy it again... Its an MATX format where as the Tomahawk is ATX

You would probably benefit from some faster memory as well if you can squeeze that into your budget.

Stock levels like everything are abit meh at the moment.

Spot on. Get the 3600, one of the MSI boards above, and the memory, then sell you motherboard, cpu and ram on the bay.

Thanks a lot for your help. I ordered the 3600 but actually went for a X470 GAMING PLUS MAX board , I assume that was an ok option ?
I cannot afford the memory right now so assume my current memory will suffice? I'll get it next month ideally
