Just wondering how upto date the dvla online car tax database is? just the guy across the road has a land rover discovery and on the tax website its listed as SORN till 1/1/2011 now hes been using it over winter to go to work in as he use's his bike when the weather is fine. he did have a history of drink driving years ago too. ive reported him twice via the direct gov website but nothings been done. it would be best if i could see the tax disk but i dont want to get seen at his car or he might kick off

It may seem like im been petty but if he can afford a car and a Honda goldwing and he works i dont think £100+ is too much to ask for tax

:/ not really you business so why are you giving a flick about it? id say mind you own business.. if it was uninsured yes.. but now its not a big deal

I'd say you did the right thing, chances are if hes not taxed he won't be insured!

We get properly screwed by the government to use the roads, why should we pay for him as well?

stop been a stick in the mud you say! its been like that for at least three month. i dont see why the honest motorist like you and i should pay for a life time or driving when theres idiots like that driving around untaxed and continue to get away with it!

I find it really supprising that you think its fine that people should not have to pay tax.
thanx Siliconslave atleast theres someone with some sense

you know.. you should just go around the streets in london and look at the tax disks.. to see who else you can report.. its DVLA's problem let them dial with it.. if the car is SORN till 2011 and he drove it just in winter whats the big dial?

OP I think you did the right thing, no tax means no insurance which means if he bumps into me or one of you or even worse kills someone you will get nothing from his insurance group as he isnt insured. It will all come out of your pocket.

Why should I and plenty of others pay for tax and others dont.

Sorry, but that's absolute nonsense.

Where does this bs come from? How does no tax mean no insurance? And straight to "ohhh he might run someone over" christ.

OP stop being a slave to the DVLA, they have staff paid for the purpose of finding tax dodgers.

So you're telling me that if you have no tax for your vehicle that your insurance group will pay out for a claim. They will use any excuse to not pay.
Insurance states you are only covered if you are driving legally, without tax you are not.

Unless I am mistaken.
