Unusual problem

Hi,

Having a reoccurring issue that i wanted to see if anyone else had experienced/heard of.

Running the same rig as in my sig and had no problems generally. Few weeks ago my screen blinked while surfing and this was followed by the screen dimming and then returning to normal and this pattern repeats..at the same time msi afterburner reports both 580's in the 90's under gpu usage...temps increase and fans spin up. This happened a few times recently and again tonight.

I have Reseatted both cards last weekend and cleaned all fans etc, and no problems all week until tonight, started again while watching a youtube video. System is clean with regards to virus' etc and no unusual problems while running games.

Any ideas?

Cards clean and dust free?

Sufficient airflow in the case and dust filters clean?

Are you using multiple displays?

Yup 4 case fans on side..everything cleaned recently..temps are great across the board.

I see the CPU is overclocked (is the cards also?) reset all back to stock and try for a day or two and see if it repeats.

Both cards on stock settings and been running the cpu without the oc since last weekend so can rule both those out. I would be thinking main board/pcie slot related but as both cards are affected im pretty stumped.

Problem is so intermittent it is hard to test properly, run 1 card for a few days and no probs, been running both last 4 days and problem only reoccurred tonight

Yeah been there and done that too..im pretty much out of ideas apart from a reinstall.

Running Furmark should heat he cards up nicely, that might show up any heat issues.

You can run GPU-Z which has a a sensor screen which shows the temps.

Ran it, and 3dmark and heaven 2.5 no heat issues, cards dont go above 70 ever. Been gaming on it all week and no issues at all. Am only posting here as i have tried everything i can think of.

Do you have the Asus Suite installed?

Had it installed ages ago, dumped it as temps were fairly unreliable.

Compared it to HWmonitor, seemed pretty accurate to me. I use the Sensor monitor when I am gaming, select what you want to record, how often and leave it running in the background.

Always used a combo of msi afterburner for gpu and hwmonitor or realtemp.

Temps are not an issue, constantly monitored.

What about your voltages and fans speeds, what do they show when the temps soar?
