Upcomming smartphone releases

At least try to keep the fanboy comments to a minimum please :( It's worth remembering that in mobile SoC design the clockspeed is important but it's only the peak speed, it's not like your processor is running flat out at that (and neither is the discrete gpu, radio controller, hardware video decoder etc etc..)

Like a lot of tech, quadcore designs will give us the potential to do more rather than do more to start with. If they design things that can take advantage of it then woo - good for us. I expect the early kraits will be too power hungry for phones to start with considering their ability. Or, you know, they end up in 5.5" phones with 2500mAh batteries.

I'm waiting on the new Samsung Galaxy W, 1.4Ghz single core is enough for me and I don't like these massive phones, something same size as my HTC hero I'd be glad with.

^ They all use the same 45nm S2 snapdragon and overclock to ~1.8GHz (the cheapest being a ~£170 Huawei U8800)

There's some good deals around for newish phones atm, check out this Quidco/T-Mobile deal.
£11.50pm gets you 300mins/FUP data and a free SE Arc (The best S2 snapdragon phone) Motorola Atrix (Nice 4" tegra 2 phone) or SE Neon (3.7" version of the Arc)
Hopefully in 3-6 months time the SGS2 should be on a similar deal :)

Oh yeah, here's more details on the 4.5" 720p AH-IPS LG phone (S3 snapdragon)

I've found I don't really use that much power of my SGS, when my contract comes up I'd quite like a phone with a good screen, build quality, camera, and top notch battery, that runs android, not top CPU power, say dual core instead of quad.

I don't see any on the horizon though :s

Presumedly with the move to 28nm, we should start seeing some long battery life phones again?

The two i have my eye on atm are the prime and the sony ericsson duo, really don't like the feel of the sgs 2, worried about what the prime will look like and the res, and also id the duo will be good enough in the light.

I'm looking to upgrade from october to just after xmas, theres nothing currently out that I feel is worth me selling my htc desire original.
