update bios help

hi, i have just bought a gigabyte GA-MA770-UD3 motherboard and a amd phenom II x4 955. But i have been told that i need to update the bios before i can use this cpu? plus the only amd cpu i will have will be the phenom II x4 955. so can i update the bios with this cpu even tho the motherboard will not reckonise it? anotherthing i have the (rev 2) so a wounder if this has the new drivers allready? any help plzzzzzzzz

If your bios recognises your cpu at it's rated speed then it's updated.

If it's running your cpu at lower speeds then you need a bios update.

just go to gigabyte website and u ll find the latest bios there

yer but how am i goin to update the bios when the board will not reckonise the cpu?

Will the board POST with the CPU you have?

i havent tried yet but i dont think it will as i have been told the board needs updated before the cpu will work

I'd try powering the system up first mate.

When I first got my i7 system, I was told by lots of people online and even guys from Gigabyte themselves that I would need to flash my UD5 to the latest BIOS as the F4 BIOS that was installed on the board wouldn't recognize my D0 stepping processor and my system wouldn't POST, however, I decided to give it a try anyway, and everything worked perfectly with the stock BIOS..
