Update Conroe launch date

NDA just means it cant be officially reviewed.

Nope. Non-Disclosure Agreement means exactly what it says. You CAN review/test the subject in question during the NDA period but you CANNOT disclose the results. Think about it, how do review sites have a review up on the same day NDA is lifted? Obviously they review it beforehand but hold back the results until the NDA terminates.

Just because an NDA is lifted, this bares no relation (IN GENERAL) to whether something can go on sale

All its saying is that it can be reviewed properly in every possible way and the review released, nothing else.

Bold bit is wrong, see above. The underlined bit is correct. NDA only stops you from releasing the results, it doesn't stop you from reviewing/testing the subject in question (if that was the case, what exactly would be the point of an NDA?)

I think its fairly obvious that he meant the review cant be made public knowledge.

I think you are splitting hairs myself - the REVIEW doesnt exist without results to explain conclusions. Obviously I meant when the review is released - things like that arent doen by a click of the fingers.

PREVIEWS are there to give an idea without any technical data to comply with NDA

So what I said WAS correct

Thanks Rich

Well that's not what he said if you read carefully. :)

I did read carefully. Sometimes you have to read between the lines and not take comments literally.
When people say "review" in the internet age, they dont mean some tester sitting their and reviewing it for his own pleasure, they mean somebody posting a review to a dedicated review site :)

That's not what you wrote above. There's a huge difference between saying "NDA means it can't be officially reviewed" and saying the review can't be released. NDA is the latter.

lol, look at my username. There's a reason behind it. :)

Nobody was contesting that. We're talking about NDAs :)

Anyway, I think that's enough off topic. Let's and enjoy the fact that NDA is being lifted early for Conroe.

Google: Definitions of review on the Web:

reappraisal: a new appraisal or evaluation
an essay or article that gives a critical evaluation (as of a book or play)
follow-up: a subsequent examination of a patient for the purpose of monitoring earlier treatment
(accounting) a service (less exhaustive than an audit) that provides some assurance to interested parties as to the reliability of financial data

From this I would still state I WAS correct

Evaluation means it HAS to have critical (good or bad) points and it HAS to be there to be read in the first place.

As others seem to agree!!!

Explicitely it looks like you ARE wrong :D

lol, nobody was arguing about the definition of "review"

We're talking about a Non-Disclosure Agreement, that's what you need to look up! I hope you're not trying to change the subject :D

Hes not.

You are.

So we are talking about the definition of the word Review. In this case his use of it was correct, but you are right, we are derailing this topic and as such should agree to differ and leave it at that.

Perhaps "Explicitly Anal" would be a more appropriate username.

That was uncalled for mate.. You shouldnt post anymore stuff like that without knowing the person you're talking about.

Anyway back on topic, July 14th is next next Friday, so close! However I have a feeling that the NDA is being lifted early to allow people to read reviews etc before the launch to increase the hype even more :(

That was my original interpretation - before it all got blown out of the water

The adverts are definitely for FilmFour. Advertising a new CPU during Big Brother seems like pretty poor targeted advertising to me :p
