BT have introduced a new free service for their customers "Call Protect". Might be worth a try, I have just turned it on and will see what happens.
Andi.

Had the call guardian phones for ages now and not had a single dodgy call. well worth the money.

Good point, I'll rephrase: Do people even utilise their landlines anymore?

Yes. Rubbish mobile signal and elderly relatives who don't switch their mobiles on because they don't want to drain the battery

EDIT: I work from home and need to call out a lot. Call quality on land-line is way better than mobile.

I'm starting to get spam calls on my mobile now. I have registered my number with TPS and will see if they stop. If anyone else wants to do it, the TPS site doesn't accept mobile numbers into the register service on their main page but there's a separate link for mobiles under their FAQ.

I find it intensely irritating and would love to see some punishments for the companies that do this.

I had my landline plugged in for all of a week, then realised I'm better off with it unplugged.

I've never needed to ring anyone. It's right by the socket, so if I ever did need to call 999 or something, it's easy to do.

I haven't had a phone plugged into my landline for the best part of a decade

Same here. I just use my mobile. Got sick of cold calls on my landline and then one day I lost my temper and unplugged my landline phone and smashed it and threw it out. :o

Purchased a two pack of BT8500 call blocking phones two years ago and haven't had a single unwanted call since. Before this we were getting 3-5 a day!! The TPS is useless as they never check who is on it plus a lot of these calls are from outside the UK so it doesn't apply anyway.
