Update on 3080 Stock levels?

So what happens when customers get sick of waiting and cancel their orders?

Very few people are going to cancel, particularly with OCUK as they're likely your best chance of getting a card in this country. It's not like they can go elsewhere, you'll have a few who'll catch the FE when it's in stock for 1 minute on the nVidia site and some who change their mind but it will be a small percentage.

If you do cancel and you're still aiming to pick one up at some point then you also run the risk of having to pay more for the model you wanted.

That's well and good but that gets vaporised if AMD offers even a slightly compelling product with stock levels to match.

It wouldn't be vaporised as we all know people would stick with the nVidia card anyway. Even with Turding, plenty of people went with a 2070 or 2070S over a 5700XT. nVidia have priced their cards higher for generations now and have still dominated the market.

Also, there's no sign of an AMD launch within a month or two. By that point, most people who got an early order in will already have their card.

3070 launch is going to be exactly the same with 2080ti level performance for <£500. nVidia and the retailers are laughing all the way to the bank, regardless of what AMD release.

If AMD produced decent drivers I might consider moving to Red if their cards were better but unfortunately they are'nt.

So who has the money?
The money are in limbo as long as you have it on pre-order. If you cancel your pre-order, they're losing the money.

Also, I think NVidia are in a bit of a hurry to actually have as many cards sent to customers as possible before AMD starts the sales...

There are people like me who are fanboys and only buy Intel and Nvidia and we'll be sitting in our queue long enough until we get our products... And there are those who only buy AMD and who will sit in their queues as well...

But there are many more users who tend to switch teams from time to time, and if there's any chance of snagging a next-gen card without caring about colors, then they're the most volatile customers. So, if Nvidia wants the money, they should be ready to actually ship the products before the competition takes advantage of their blunder.

I have an update!
