So i got an email today that wouldnt allow me to reply
It notified me i was in position 262 fpr an Asus ROG Strix RTX3090 OC edition.

Im gutted as i tried non stop to get one from just before 2pm, the overclockers website fell over and i only got back on and managed to place the order at 3pm exactly on the 24th sept, so i was hoping for a higher position quewise - i dont know how so many people got in before me as the website appeared down, at least till 3pm and i was tring non stop for an hour?

Now i have a couple of questions but sadly i cannot reply to the overclockers email and it basically tells me not to bother them asking either which i find a bit off.

So what does position 262 equate to timewise as regards me getting a card sent ?
even a rough estimate would be helpful ?

Am i looking at before the end of October ? November? Will it be this year ?

Is position 262 the number of people who ordered my specific Asus ROG Strix 3090 OC ?
Or is it 262 people who have ordered all manner of 3090 cards ?

If it is that many in front of me for the same card how many cards do they stock every week i wonder and what timescale would i be looking at to get mine ? even a rough estimate?

I guess id just hoped for a bit more clarity in honesty after them taking £1710 off me so that i can make a decision on whether to cancel my order and look elsewhere or not, all ive got is a number now and im no wiser as to what that means as regards my order coming, in fact im more frustrated now.

The most dissapointing thing here for me is that there are dozens of cards listed on ebay by scalpers and many of those cards will have come from overclockers, so it does make you feel a bit hard done by.

There is no way on earth id ever buy one form any of these greedy self centred pigs off ebay - id rather go without frankly but i am sitting here now wondering what is the best thing to do and without any idea whatsoever how long my wait is likely to be based on the number 262 ?

In honesty ive simply got a que number but what does that mean time wise

So im totally not sure what to do now as despite the no doubt great intentions from overclockers i dont feel it was a particularly helpful email - i cant even reply to it to ask overclockers as it wont let me.

Can anyone shed some light on the number 262 and what that means in time waiting and the eta for being that number ?
At least if i had a rough date i could make an educated decison

They don't know when they're getting deliveries so they can't give you a date.
So this year? Or next year ? How long is reasonable to wait ?
Surely a simple phone call or email to the supplier who could speak to Nvidia isnt that hard to do and isnt an unreasonable expectation, after all ive spent a lot of money and have nothing at the moment with no idea of when anything might appear.

I would add that this isnt just my concern, there are clearly at least 261 others who have spent a lot of cash that Overclockers are sitting on that also have no idea as well, so some info on projected stock levels and even a rough ball park eta would be nice, just so we can decide what to do moving forward and it is my feeling that someone should be going out of their way to establish this and then relay that to people - a number doesnt ttell us anything in reality

I dont know any other purchase that would be done like this tbh so its a very new "buying experience" to me and it isnt proving to be a great experience sadly.

Ive got a young son asking me when he can pinch my gpu for his upgrade and i have nothing to tell him except "261"

The conversation goes like this
"when is it coming dad"
"261 son"
"what does that mean dad"
"**** knows"

Break it down a little.

you number is the place in the cue for that specific SKU so 262 strix SKU
As for the time that’s really hard to answer. Currently Golden week in China so no factory will be producing cards. Strix cards for the 3080 altleast have t been released yet. So it’s the same for 3090 ASU’s have said that the stix card sould be launching in the next week or so.

I fully believe a lot of cards atm are on boats or in ports waiting to be cleared I expect stock to be a lot more available end of October early November and I believe the amount of card overclockers will be a lot high at that time. But this is from my understanding

I hope this helps 1700£ pounds is indeed a lot of money for such uncertainty and I hope I have helped a little

Thank for the input, so it is specifically my card with 261 people in front of me and hopefully the end of october things will start moving a bit.

i wish Overclockers would simply say that to me, its much more helpful than being sent the number 262 on an email i cannot respond to with no additional info then that number.

Who knows could be a month could be shorter. People talk about a week long shutdown in China but Asus is in Taiwan which does not celebrate golden week so maybe there won’t be a huge reduction in production. Going to be a long wait though.

Most etailers have very limited Strix stock. We're talking boxes of 3 or 4 that have come in since launch. The Strix was also a very popular card globally. Stock is very short.

Not sure what to do now sadly - i did think it would be an easy purchase initially but its sadly anything but.
It would be nice i guess if it dragged on into november and AMD's big navi relaease proved to be a better card, we could all cancel and buy Team Red - i guess being the only positive to draw here.

I will say im very shocked that the stock is really that low number wise - why on earth would they announce a release day without actually any physical stock in place to sell to people ? It beggars belief really and makes Nvidia look very stupid, i see no sense at all in doing that, it is actually very bed press.

I'm 119 for my card. Absolutely no clue as to what that means in reality. Days, weeks, months? Overclockers should be giving an estimate of timeframe.

I mean i have waited two weeks for any information and i actually cancelled my order last night (due to zero effort from nvidia/aib and i gotta point it out ocuk) , and ocuk sent me a message today to tell me i was 630 in que for my card then to message the cancellation went through. (the timing was hilarious tbh)

Just pack it in wait for amd and watch how suddenly nvidia pump out gpus 100 times as fast, this is all just a massive con atm and the prices keep rising but no supply appears. Why pay £50-100 (or even more) for a gpu on launch day then what it started at 1-2 hours before? its madness tbh.

If they can't get one from the supplier, then they can't get one.

<shrug>

Your queue number will go down as cards ship, so in a few weeks there will be some data to extrapolate from.

You and every one else have to ask yourself how long are you willing to wait for one, no amount of new threads or posting will change the fact that no one knows when the 3080’s will be available in quantity so unfortunately it’s down to you waiting.

I would guess it will be November sometime best case scenario or worst case February next year.

I know I won’t pay for something until I can get a delivery date.

Might as well stay in the queue. If they can't clear the backlog of orders then you're not going to find one in stock elsewhere anytime soon.

i think the number in cue is for the order shipment and not for that gpu only, but coincidence or not im number 147 also waiting for asus rtx 3090 strix OC ...

I would cancel your order ! There are other outlets selling it a lot cheaper :) and will 100% get it quicker than OC ..... OC have left the door open on Pre orders , Good for them but very bad for you and me.

There's nothing to add in truth.

There should be updates confirming positions as shipments come in over the weeks and months.
If 50 are announced to be arriving of a certain model as per Gibbo, then people know where they stand. Likewise if its 100 etc etc

Maybe they'll fire out another mail a week or two after and people will find out if they're included in the next round when a confirmed batch are docking etc

Leaving preorders open has opened an issue, no doubt about it, but the vast majority are just going to have to wait unfortunately, but they are free to cancel at anytime.

Genuine question, but how can they give an estimate?

OcUK don't control the manufacture, the actual boats that ship them, or even the stock allocation that the manufacturer gives them.

If they give an estimate and it's missed, then what? People like you will be out with pitchforks complaining the estimate was wrong.
