Existing Parts, Case Lian Li V33. i7-6700K cpu & Ghz4.00. Asus Maximus VIII Hero Alpha built in wi-fi Intel Z170 socket 1151 DDR4 ATX. 16GB 3000MHz 2x8GB DDR4. 2x500GB 850 EVO SSD 2.5". SATA 6Gbps Team group MP 34 1TB NVMe PCIe M.2 ssd. MSE GeForce GTX 1070 Gaming X 8G 8192MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics. EVGA Supernova P2 650W 80Plus Platimum Modula Power Supply. Windows 10 Pro. Dell 1080p monitor.
Some gaming required mainly like ARK Survival High Graphics. Also photo storage and browsing.
Required. If I can possibly re-use anything otherwise I believe I need Motherboard, Cpu + AIO cooler, Graphics Card air cooled, Ram, Power Supply ?. possible new Storage for Windows 11, Games, And anything else.

Thank you for any advice.

It looks like your PC already exceeds the requirements for ARK!

1. You could stick W11 on it using rufus but Microsoft has given W10 another year of life support...

2. You could just swap the mobo and cpu either AM4 or 12th gen intel and re-use everything else unless there's a more demanding game / a game that requires RTX.

3. At the other extreme you could go all out and replace everything with an high end AM5 system and a RTX 5090.

Without any idea of your budget the people that throw the build lists together will be grasping at straws...

Thank you for your reply. Yes I forgot budget. Windows 10 is playing up now although I joined for the extra period they have provided but it is now refusing to update. Windows 11 now seems a must have, so thought I would do an upgrade on anything that is now needing upgrading as this is now a good few years old. The reason for hopefully keeping the case is that it just fits into my open fronted and open backed TV/Hifi unit.
Graphics would be better with ARK especially if we ever get an update, RTX may also well be worth considering.
I would say approximately £3000 but could stretch if required.

Hi Thank you for your input I will have a measure up of some AIO's and GPU's and the space available in the case. I could also fit another case in the space that was 11cms longer 11cms wider with total height of 37cms.
Total space for case 50cms deep, 45cms width, 37cms Height .

Would one of these fit they still look rather snug and you might have to switch the layout around depending what parts you went for but Overclockers have got them on offer with a PSU:

An AIO isn’t required even with an Intel chip.
While thats true if he wants to drop 3k+ on a new build then its probably in budget.

OP you are probably looking at something similar in spec to this prebuild if you really want to drop 3k for ARK with a few changes e.g. the 1KW psu is overkill, you want a smaller case and maybe an AIO but also a new 1440p monitor or are you hooking it up to your TV instead?

While that’s true, water cooling just isn’t needed regardless of how much you’re spending.

Neither is RGB or a gaming mouse that costs hundreds of pounds or a Ferrai when you could be driving a Ford Focus but some people just like that stuff...

Yes that case would fit I believe, and maybe an heatsink cooled processor if it is capable of cooling an upgrades cpu rather than AIO which would need a larger case. I am unsure of what upgraded gpu would fit the case.
My monitor is only 1080p but would like to connect to my 4k TV if possible.

you planning on getting a new monitor too? £3k for a rig to play at 1080p is 'healthy', shall we say. If you're really looking at ray tracing and path tracing then it's the 5070ti or 5080 you want to build around...9070xt can't do PT, but depending on the game is only a little behind the 5070ti on av..however ark leans more towards nvidia from quick google. Personally, i play at 4k, and after looking at loads of vids, I decided to go 9070xt... just seems that to use PT at 4k, i really need the 5080, and even then some games you have to turn the quality down (and dlss and FG is a must with that also), but a 70% price hike over a 9070xt didn't really seem worth it to me, and the amount of games that fully use PT is fairly limited.
ark also benefits from x3d cpu's, and if you stick with 1080p gaming, then even more so as you're putting the load on the cpu...so seeing as gaming/photo editing/browsing I'd plum 9800x3d with a b850m mobo rather than intel...gives you an upgrade path also. If you want to save some cash, 7800x3d cpu's are excellent and as so many people have upgraded to the latest and greatest, you can pick a 2nd hand one up for £200-£225...they not selling well 2nd hand as the buyers that naturally would look to pick them up don't as the price for ram is too high, so they're keeping their current systems instead...(seems weird that OCUK has sold 1000's of 5800x3d for over £300 a pop, when the 7800x3d, can be had £200 readily enough. shows how other parts can influence decisions)
