Updated BIOS - now doesn't recognise OS

Hi all,

I've been building up my system over a few days and last night managed to get it finished....

Well, I installed OS on the 256GB SSD and installed the mobo drivers and plugged in the additional HDD's. I was about to install gfx drivers, when I realised I hadn't updated the BIOS. So I used the Q-Flash to update and all went well, but it had lost all my BIOS settings, all I did really was setup XMP anyway, so I did that again.

Now for some reason when it boots it acting like the boot/OS drive isn't plugged in, it just comes up with the usual 'no bootable drive, will go to BIOS' message.

BIOS is seeing the drives, and I've unplugged the HDD;s just in case they were causing issues, but it's made no difference and I can't see any other options in BIOS that might make a difference.

Gigabyte Z78 UD5H
Samsung 840 Pro 256GB

Appreciate any help/ideas.

Thanks

I swear the default for these boards is AHCI, it does sound like the boot order is wrong.

You may have two listings for the same HDD, one with its exact model name, the other saying "UEFI hard drive" try both as the first boot device.

Thanks for the replies. It wouldn't let me select the boot order at first, not sure why, but it could see the two SSD's, my 256GB OS drive and the 60GB as I've unplugged the SATA HDD's now.

It was set at AHCI as defualt, and I'm fairly certain it was still at AHCI now too, but I'll double-check and get back to you.

Also, I'm not sure if this normal, but this code is always showing on the debug display, A0 which means - "IDE initialization is started".

Might this have something to do with my problem? I can't recall whether it was there before I had the problem either.

There is a section called HDD BBS properties,, check your OS drive is listed first there too.

Odd, for some reason it now works, but I didn't make any changes. The only thing I did was disable and re-enable the SATA Controller, without actually saving settings in between!

How strange, will see how long it lasts. Just installing more drivers and software.
