I want to update my X370 Taichi Bios in preparation for the 3600 I've ordered but the latest version says

*Asrock do not recommend updating this bios if pinnacle, raven, summit or Bristol Ridge CPU is being used on your system.

Not sure what I'm meant to do TBH. Does that mean it won't support my current CPU and may brick it during the flash? Obviously the new CPU won't work if I don't?

Do I just flash and hope for the best?
Thanks
Scott

I went ahead and did it and it seems to work fine. Not really sure why the warning unless it's just that it's no longer optimized for the older CPUs?

Yeah, it will be optimised for zen 2 now and the warning would just be to cover themselves if you got any instability on the older 2600

Yer i used the latest bios on my 1700x for about 4 weeks untill I picket up a 3600 and like you was there was zero difference dispit asrock warning.

Is your 3600 hot? I've online got a single fan freezer 33 but in a well ventilated case it's reaching 80c.

Stock clock, pbo off and under volted 50mv I get 68-75 gaming with a stock cooler from a ryzen 1700 and a bad case.

I am going water over the next week or so

Is that the wraith max cooler?

I read that undervolting can lead to lower clocks/performance even though monitoring software reports normal clocks.

I might need to experiment with some undervolting and benchmarks.

https://www.gamersnexus.net/guides/3494-amd-ryzen-3000-undervolting-offset-override

Use hwinfo64 as this is the only program I have found to give the real clock speeds.
I can turn on pbo and set +200mhz with a - 50mv offset and the cpu boosts to 4.3ghz but its hot.
Bench marks show better scores.

If I go -100mv i lose performance even at stock setting. My motherboard only go's in 50mv steps in offset. This could give better gaming performance I only tested with max load

I can run fixed 1.325v @ 4.1ghz but idle temps go up 9c. And load temps go to about 65-70c.

This is all with the wraith max cooler, I will see what I can really do with I switch to water next week.. Maybe this weekend

I got the wraith prism cooler with my 3600 running a 4.2 all core OC and temps are around 55c games 67 in aida though I do have the silverstone rl06 high airflow case.

Where did you turn on the plus 200mhz? I've got an h115i on the CPU now and temperatures are under control!
Thanks
