Hi folks..

I have an 8600GT on my Laptop here, and I have noticed the drivers are seriously out of date.. so I thought the obvious thing was to download the latest forceware drivers, but for some reason its coming back with the error that it cant find the drivers to update...

How can I get round this? is it best to un-install the Dell signed ones and then just re-install the N-Vidia ones or?

Can someone provide me with a walk-through? :)

Driver NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT101.26Dell requires that you download the driver for your GPU from their support site.

You can find more information at: http://support.dell.com/.

The GeForce Go mobile GPU use drivers that have been customized to support hot key functions, power management functions, lid close and suspend/resume behavior that are normally found in notebooks. The reference desktop graphic drivers that are provided by NVIDIA on our driver downloads page do not include these custom features. For this reason, the NVIDIA Forceware NVIDIA graphics display drivers will not install on most Geforce and Quadro family of mobile GPU's. Some newer laptops have been designed to work with our drivers. For more information click here.

Thats what it comes up with on that auto detect on the Nvidia Website, but Dell dont have the update to the latest version from what I can see they only have the basic one.. so whats the best course of action? run the driver cleaner and attempt to install the Latest drivers from the 8600GT downloads?

Ok one on Dells Website brings it upto FW 156.55, there are drivers available for the upgrade to 163, BUT they arent for my card..

As I said mate you just need a modified inf file, that adds your videocard to the setup instructions. You might be able to get them at other places (try guru3d forum) but http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/ is the best place. Just unfortunate they are upgrading right now.
