I have spot lights in my lounge that I never use as they are the old yellow style ones that are higher power usage and are dimmable.

I do however have a load of unused hue smart colour gu10 which fit in the space, however they don't join the connected inside. I'm told I need to upgrade each light fitting converter (perhaps they used another word) and change the switch to a normal on off rather than dimmer.

Anyone able to give some more guidance on what it is exactly I'll need to do?

I can post photos if it helps

Pics of ceiling and the back of the existing lights and socket would be good.

I think it looks like you have MR16 type bulbs which run on lower voltage via a transformer.
I've never come across them ever and only just come to realise they exist, but that's just me!

Seems you can convert to GU10 or led but it can be a faff. Depends how the run has been done in the ceiling. Have you got a volt meter?

Might be easier to rip them all out and just use modern day GU10 or LED down lights?

Edit: by rip them out I mean pull everything out the ceiling and cut it all back to normal lighting circuit, then install new modern day stuff.

CLiCKYJust found this, sounds like it's easier nowadays and that you can just buy the right replacement bulbs out right that would plug straight in and work on your existing transformer?
Can you pull the bulb out the holder to check they do have two pins which look like MR16?

Edit: I mean to say it might be easier to replace with MR16 led ones rather than try to buy an MR16 to GU10 converter socket. You could try that too though if you really want to use your gu10s but I don't know that it would work as GU10s won't be low voltage and aren't designed like that?

Yep, GU10 are 240v, MR16 12v,

I’d just buy GU10 fittings, you just need to remove the led driver for the mr16s and directly connect the GU10 fittings to the 240v that was going in the LED driver.

Of course, get an electrician if you are aren’t comfortable wiring in the fittings.. it is mains!

So the item I posted a link to above, would this be what I'm after? I'm comfortable wiring things so will give it a go myself.

Missed that!

Yes,, spot on..

I personally would probably get them from an electrical supplier, and use WAGO connectors in a proper wago box since I distrust anything too cheap on Amazon that isn't from a trusted company.. belt and braces.. but costs me more!

ALso, if your ceiling fittings are old or you just want to switch vertical to adjustable you can buy packs of GU10 fittings and ceiling fittings e.g.
