Afternoon everyone!

Sorry if this type of thread already exists, but I can't really find the problem I have.

Whem i boot my system and i press f12 or whatever for the boot menu, the screen always just goes to a blank one. Same with f2.
I think the it's doing what i want, but its just not appearing on my tv.
If i reboot and leave it, windows boots up fine.

Should I download a bios update for my mobo (flashing i think its called) and try updating that?

Also, ive downloaded drivers for my Graphics card, and a Lan thing for the Mobo.
Is there loads more I should be downloading?
Thanks

I can't remember what resolution the BIOS runs at but the tv may not support it, you can confirm by testing the system on a monitor.

I wouldn't update anything - just try booting it connected to an "ordinary" PC monitor via VGA or a DVI connector?

I don't think updating the BIOS would help!

You need to check on a normal monitor which can handle the res.

I've been trying to set up an old PC monitor, and i can't seem to get it to work.
Tried using a VGA, the only VGA socket is from the mobo, so i guess i need drivers maybe? Tries installing the VGA drivers from the Gigabyte site, and they both wont work.

Really can't seem to find a solution.

Does the system disable any of the mobo's graphics if the graphics card is in use??
Am I even talking any sense? :P

Usually if you have a external GPU this disables the onboard, remove the external card and retry.

yes it does. you can usually enable it so both work at the same time in the bios. oh wait... :p

obviously you don't need to install onboard VGA drivers to see the bios so just remove your GPU as suggested above.

edit: it'll be easier to use a dvi>vga adapter on the GPU assuming you have one.

Drivers will make no difference to bios as it is before windows loads and loads the drivers, though you should install the all the drivers at some point anyway for Windows itself. BIOS update is only really worth doing if it's very out of date or the newer ones fix any major issues, especially if any of the issues listed affect you.

Try removing your add in GPU from the PC and hook the monitor up to the VGA on the mobo.

If that works you could try disabling the onboard or see if you can change the GFX priority. Then put the add in card and try again over HDMI but make sure you have an easy way to reset the bios settings if needed, like a button on the motherboard or a key press on boot, check your mobo manual.

Would also be worth checking the TVs manual see if it recommends a specific HDMI connection for PC and possibly a PC setting for it.

edit: too slow :/

Im guessing the DVI is the one that looks like the VGA, but has an extra 4 pin bit?

Thanks for the replies. I have a bit of work to do i guess

Hello again.

So just now, I had my VGA cable plugged into an old monitor still, and I tried unplugging the graphics card power; and the monitor switched on and was at the bios screen!

Just needed to let it enable itself without a gpu.

Thank you to all your replies in this and the other threads i've recently created!
Very new to PC's and the comments really got me out of a mess.

Thanks again.
