Looking for a decent upgrade for a uni friend machine, he's already got a nice spec which I will list below but he's looking to overclock soon so he will need a cooler and maybe a new case since he doesn't like his very much but at the time he couldn't stretch the budget for a better one.

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI HD 7950 Twin Frozr III Boost Edition 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card **NEW REVISION** £259.99
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £189.95
1 x Gigabyte Z77X-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £112.99
1 x XFX 850W XXX Edition Modular '80 Plus Silver' Power Supply £99.98
1 x Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST2000DM001) HDD £79.99
1 x Zalman Z9 Plus Tower Case with Fan Controller - Black £49.99
Total : £814.32 (includes shipping : £17.85).

That's basically what he got, not sure if his PSU is the 750 or 850 though. He will also need some RAM since he's borrowing 8GB kit from me.

I was thinking of getting the following for him:
  • CPU Cooler
  • SSD
  • RAM
  • Case

Nice although he doesn't need a SSD that big, was probably thinking of a Samsung 840 128gb. Can't believe the Sammy RAM dropped in price bought mine at £60 odd..

even if he doesnt need the bigger SSD it is always best to have for the extra space of installing apps and games it doesnt take much too fill a 128gb SSD these days and for the extra £50 i think that is a bargin since they are the new M500 SSDs as well

Would you say the M500 is better than the Samsungs 840 pro? That's true but he will only have two games on the SSD and then Windows and Office 2013 on the SSD so it's more than enough.

The case he likes the Corsair 500R but will show him some other ones tomorrow.
