Upgrade 970

Gtx1080 most likely. I would be nervous to spend atm though as Nvidia may have a card launching within months and with the mining on the slide prices may come down. Vega64 is another shout if prices come down. Is your monitor G-Sync or Freesync?

My monitor is the AOC G2460PQU 24" Widescreen 144Hz 1ms Gaming LED Monitor. Not sure which it is.
 
If you can wait, there will be new Nvidia cards in the next 2-3mths which, depending on availability, for £600 will get you a card well over twice as fast & probably approaching three times faster than your 970, but if you can't wait, then get a 1070Ti which is only about 5% slower than a 1080 and, if you shop around, can be had for about £450.
