Hey Folks so have this CPU now for 3 years and its served its self well although due to me gaming at 1080p Ultrawide 144hz its particularly struggling to produce high framerates even hitting an average of only 80fps at low settings on Warzone :(

Ive already Decided on the Motherboard of the Aorus B550 Elite which i feel for the money seems the best in my opinion.

also ive already purchased another 960 EVO 500gb so will be running 2 of these on the above board.

so as u all probably know from the recent AMD stream the new 5000 series processors are being released on November 5th just in time for the new Games i intend on Playing which include Cyberpunk 2077,Call of Duty Cold War and lastly Destiny 2 Beyond Light :)

I Was hoping for a 5700x to be announced with an included Cooler but that doesn't look to be the case. :(

So looks to be either a 5800x with a Wraith Spire RGB which would be around 440 pounds total.

Or Like a 3700x which will probably have came down a little by then.

is a 50% Increase in performance asking to much of the 5800x considering the 10700k which is its direct rival is around 30% faster in gaming at 1080p.

This upgrade is primarily just for an Increase to gaming performance although i would like to keep the 8 cores and 16 threads for potentially streaming in the future as the 5600x is overpriced?

any help is greatly appreciated :)

For the 5000 range of AMD processors I would say wait for independant benchmarks however I would also assume that the results will be released nearer the time that the processors are going to be released.

@cchaos yea I'm going to do that what do you think I can sell my 1700 and Aorus motherboard for?

That's not something we can discuss outside of the Members Market, best checking other well known sites.

Now we have details on the new AMD CPUs, you can either go for one of those they have announced, or wait for non-X versions

A tricky one - in a similar boat as you. I had a 1700 for nearly 2 years and then went to a 3700X (still rocking my X370) a few months back.

Getting a B550 or X570 is a no-brainer but I'm tempted to say get a 3700X (think I just saw Gibbo say they are likely to sell for ~£200 by the end of the year), it's still a very good CPU and a fair bit cheaper. You can then drop in a 5000 series at a later date. Otherwise, get the 5600/X or 5800/X.

@doodah i know what your saying and it makes sense although i want to run Cyberpunk 2077 at Ultra settings with RTX on at over 60fps Min and Cold War competitively at 144fps and not sure a 3700x will do that with my 2070 Super?

@lloydcars18 I am somewhat suspicious of the really generous sounding system requirements for Cyberpunk but would love to be wrong.

Another way to look at it, if you have the budget (say an extra £200-300), just go with the 5000 series and don't look back. If you have to be a smart about the budget, that's where the 3700X will shine along with a board that allows you to drop a 5000 series at a later date.

Fortunately you don't have to decide right now, wait for the reviews so you can see how much extra in FPS (for the games you play) the 5600X or 5800X will give you :). What a time for the CPU market though.

Edit - is this all at 1080p? The new COD doesn't sound too taxing but it does have some ray tracing by the looks of it. Sounds like finding enough hard drive space is more of a concern :p.

Yeah with COD I don't think that new 500GB drive is gonna cut it lol!

Yea i know what you's are saying and yea that's why i got the second 500gb drive as only 70gb left on this 1 so not enough for Cyberpunk and Cod got it for only 60 pounds so was a good buy tbh.

and yea il wait for the reviews to see how much of a gain it is in performance i dont mind spending the money as long as its at least 40% or more faster than my 1700 at 1080p i want this CPU to do me another 3 years like my 1700 has done.

@Sleepy Stu why do u have 4400mhz ram and what are u running it at/ with what timings?

Got it cheap off a friend who was selling his rig. Samsung B-Die which is good currently running at 3600mhz cas16 but some people have said that you can hit 3733Mhz at cas14 or even 3800. When I can find the time to mess with it I will find out.
