Upgrade advice, or do I not need too?

84C with 4 maxed out cores isn't totally outlandish, although for a G0 I'd have maybe expected a bit lower even with a stock cooler. Might be worth reseating the cooler, my i5-750 was similar when there was a bad contact.

i wouldn't get a freezer 7 pro as it is not that great a cooler, it only took about 10 degrees of the stock coolers temp when i used one.
for under £40 you could have any of these coolers -

all of these are much better coolers than the freezer 7 pro, all come with their own fan and would handle a q6600 overclocked to around 3.6ghz no worries and can be carried over to a future build as they support all modern sockets.

It does sound high, I was thinking back to my previous overclocking days and anything above 55ishC was high to me.

Ok I have a lot of ideas now for what to do, expect a few random threads about Q6600 overclocking when I get stuck, which is bound to happen! :D

Thanks for everyones help, you can all let this thread die now if no one has anymore ideas.

Thanks again
