Upgrade Advice

Currently using a 7800GT and 3800 X2.

Would really like to upgrade to X1900XT but will I see any difference with that CPU? Or will the AMD create a bottleneck?

Will eventually swap to Intel so not really keen on getting another 939 CPU.

Is there any particular reason that you want to change graphics cards? If the 7800gt isn't good enough any more then sure you will see a difference with the X1900XT especially if you overclock the X2 as well but if you don't need to upgrade urgently I'd hold off and see what you can get for the money when you upgrade the CPU.

You know what it's like, when gfx cards begin to drop in price I start thinking about upgrading. The whole 'gotta have one' mentality!

Many people rave about the X1900s which got me into pondering over a switch back to ATI, but then I thought about the potential CPU bottleneck.

Think I might hold off then - might even wait till xmas when the new GPU cores start emerging.

I'll put the credit card away for now

i have the same as you nearly,X2 4200,7800 gt (512) SLI,
if you do upgrade i might be intrested in having it,then i run both in SLI mode,
