Upgrade advice.

Currently running:

Quad 6600
Asus P5N-D nForce 750i SLi
8800 Gainward GT "golden sample"
4GB DDR2 8500 G.Skill ram
Akasa 460W PSU (akasa p460fg bl)
320GB HDD
Antec 300

I game at 1680x1050

Want to upgrade the graphics card, this card has served me really well, plays Crysis at good frames on high, but I'm looking towards another card and selling this.

Budget ... about 200 pounds.

Would like to know if my PSU would support a bigger card and which card do you guys advise ?

would advise a 4870 1gb and i believe you would need a 550w psu

Grab yourself one of these, I would think your PSU should be fine, but this leaves you with £50 to play with if you want an new PSU, its on par with the 4870. Also you wont have to change drivers

Honestly I dont think youll need a new PSU, its single GPU setups rarely load more than 300W even these cards. The 260 is prob your best bet at that price.

What about the 4870 that's on offer this week ?

it's close between the 2. I went 4870 1GB cos I plan to slot another in at a later date.

I have a 500W PSU, so you should be ok.

+/- 5fps generally between the two depending on the game. The 48xx cards seem to handle the source engine a little better but then the GTX series run stuff with Physx and TWIMTBP titles a bit better. Who sponsors who apparently......
