I think it is that time again, it has been just about 5 years since I last properly upgraded my computer and am looking at new bits again.

At the moment I am currently running
  • Original E6600 @2.4Ghz
  • 4GB Ram
  • 5750 1Gb

I am planning to keep the current system as is for the kids so am planning a complete new build. Now before I jump in and start ordering are there any significant new components coming in the next few months? The computer is mainly used for Gaming and I am not averse to waiting for a few months.

next things due out are the new gfx cards and the newer sandybridge processors, not seen any confirmed release dates tho.

You're in the same position as me. Ivybridge CPUs are just around the corner (well I reckon around March 2012) which will see a die shrink from the present Sandybridge CPU's, so we might see higher clock speeds, and maybe a clock for clock improvement of est. 10% against the current SB cpu's.

Still if you keep waiting for what is around the corner you will never decide on anything :) If I do go for an i5-2500K build then at least the motherboard (P8Z68-V/GEN3) will be compatible with Ivybridge if I want to upgrade the CPU later on ;)
