You really want the XFX 450W PSU or better still the 550W i spec'd for some breathing room. Your 650W PSU is overkill to be fair, you have no power worries, i dont want your cousin having to pay for a 3rd PSU when he wants to up the GPU.

If you want the 6850 that's your call, they were going for £80 a while back and that was a steal. I had enough of the AMD drivers and the games i do play favour nvidia. Remember I'm recommending the 460 from personal experience...i know my forum buddy Beej is rocking one too at 850mhz.

The 6000 series was NOT an upgrade from the 5000 series, it was a joke to be honest. The 460s rival was the 5830/5850, the nvidia 550ti/560 aren't as good as the 460 either. Price to perfomance is 6850/460/6870/7850...with the nvidia 680 now being the "top dog" but we are yet to see the 660,670 etc.

I dont mean this as a lecture i just know you are up for discussions ;)

Can someone answer my question that will decide whether i get ati or nvidia,
Will my mobo support the nvidia gpu???
 
Btw, I'm going to buy ram + monitor + Psu, then gpu
Just found out only ati gpu will work with my mobo =(

Education and aiming at 250 posts fella ;) To be fair with the clearance 460 that was the best bang upgrade for buck pretty much bang on the budget.

OP has just mentioned the resolution. He mentioned having it connected to a TV. If this TV is HD wether he rocks the 6850 or 460 he would have much better graphics and performance than a xbox or PS3......oh and yes you can use xbox pads on pc if you dont want a keyboard and mouse in the way on the sofa (depends on game of course).

I wouldnt bother with that £50 monitor the OP mentioned, if that's what is giving him the low res. Put the £50 into the GPU budget or think of it as almost paying for a small SSD to make the system boot and respond quicker.
 
On some other forum, also having a tv on my wall in my room with a rubbish wired keyboard and mouse, it's just not comfortable, my neck breaks when I try to game on it and my eyes bleed when I try to read on a 32" tv with a 1920x1080 res,
also that monitor has dvi
I have a xbox controller for pc, but a lot of games that I like to play (look at sig) does not support it.
I will have it plugged into tv for movies, but not for internet and gaming

using a 6 series ati card with his llano apu, does this not give out hybrid xfire?
 
CozI have llano i can do dual graphics, but it is not very good, 6670 + 6530D = 6690D2 or sumthing and its not as good as 6850

The llano isnt a CPU its an APU. It has a low end 6000 series GPU built into the CPU is the best way to think of it. WIll do some very light gaming but does HD playback very well better than intels sandybridge IGP even.

You can add another low end 6000 series (i forget which one) and the mobo does hybrid xfire. So links the APU and the GPU to up the power but it's rubbish lol

I think someone on another forum is getting confused, i'll link the spec sheet. Show me where it says AMD GPUs only

becasue i was unsure of it myself and didnt want to start throwing hybrid xfire into the mix
