If it were me, I'd probably get the £179 Asus strix 970.

But the 480 is similar performance and a newer card.

Both will do great at 1080 for quite some time.

1060 is £194 right now (EVGA) and thats a pretty solid bet over the 970.

I didn't see that.

In that case, unless the OP really wants to scrimp a few quid, the evga 1060 is probably the better buy.

But really, there's not much performance difference between the 1060, 970 and 480.

That's the 3GB 1060 though.....should that really be considered over a 480?

As above in a blind test there isn't really a visible difference between the 480 and 1060. The 480 is capable of getting a lovely boost in Vulkan though and I believe AMD cards age better.

Wouldn't be getting a new 970 today to save £20 quid personally. I had one before the vram scandal and it was ok at 1080p, but it's not clever to buy older architecture NVIDIA cards new for the equivalent of a few rounds savings on the current architecture chips.

Also wouldn't touch a 3GB 1060 with a barge pole for the same price as a 480. Has short lifespan written all over it.
