Upgrade advise (or a new build?)

Hello guys.

I have recently got back into gaming (specifically CSGO) but my rig feels/looks a little bit dated.

My current set up (see below) was a pre build purchased form a former team mate as my knowledge is some what limited.

Intel Core i5-4460 CPU @ 3.20GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti
8.00 GB RAM
ASUS H81M-PLUS

Ideally I would like to upgrade the current set up but open to suggestions.

I understand CSGO is CPU heavy? (I think)

I would like a stable consistent FPS benchmark of 300 (minimal dips)

thanks in advance

The update, which is the first since the end of the IEM Katowice Major last weekend, give users the option to reduce CPU memory usage by a massive margin. Using the startup command "-d3d9ex", players can reduce the load on their CPU from CS:GO up to approximately 40 percent.

To try it out for yourself, go to CS:GO in your Steam games library, right click on the game and select "Properties," click "Set Launch Options" in the General tab, and type "-d3d9ex" in the box. If you encounter any in-game issues with the option enabled, game developer Valve is asking players to report it at their email

You need to give us a budget to aim for.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £520.47 (includes shipping: £10.50)

You would need a better gpu like a nvidia 2060 or better or an AMD 5700 or better to keep over 300 fps which are all like rocking horse poop or hideously overpriced :(

Thanks for the reply, I have all relevant launch options set, and FPS configs etc

Budget wise I didn’t really want to spend over £800... although I’m unsure I’ll be able to get what I want with that?

im thinking now a pre build will be my best option as it take the hassle out of it. (Hassle for me anyway!! I’m a complete novice)

can you recommend any that will have what I require in the set up?
