Hi, been a few years since i've been on these forums. Glad to see its still a thriving community.

Anyhow i'm seeking some advise. My computer isn't what it should be.Takes a long time switching between games. Used to play BF2 but takes up to 15 minutes to get on a game! I built my own computer but i'm amateurish at best with this stuff. Here it is:

System

CPU DualCore AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800, 2200 MHz (10 x 220)
MB Gigabyte GA-K8NSC-939
RAM 1024 MB (PC3200 DDR SDRAM 200Mhz)
Video NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GS (256 MB)
Hardrive Maxtor 6Y120P0 (120 GB, 7200 RPM, Ultra-ATA/133)
OS MS Pro

Its not really a bad system. Its clocked a little bit; 200Mhz but thats it. I take it its my memory that slowing me up? Could somone please advise me some new memory and whether I need a new MB for the faster modules.

One other thing. I'm contstantly unraring fairly large files from work and it puts loads of pressure on my hd. Is there something else I should be looking at like sata? Simple terms, I just want a smooth computer.

Thanks in advance. :)

to overclock with that ram, simply put it on a divider and then have it running slower speed and not 1:1 with the cpu. Also lower the HTT from 5x (1000mhz) to 4x(800) or 3x(600). This will allow you to clock further and probably is holding you back.
