Hi guys,
Im currently looking at the below components for my new build. I just want to make sure that
1)All the components should work together etc all be happy or if anyone see any conflicts, even if its size of components etc and
2) i currently have This PSU and want to make sure its enough.

New PC bits are
RAM
CPU
MB
CPU Cooler

The other parts of this machine I already have are
Gigabyte 3D Aurora GZ-FSCA1-AN Black
BFG Nvidia 7800 GTX OC
Wireless Card
Plextor DVD +/- RW
2 x 19" Dell Utra Sharps
4 / 5 USB devices inc the mouse, keyboard, webcam
Front Panal SD Card Reader.

Ive used some of the online PSU calc and Ive been gettign 1000w PSU which I think is just crazy along with some other ppl Ive chatted to. Any help would be great.

Thank you.

Welcome to the forums, all parts are compatible but they are quite expensive for what they are in some cases. The Ram, I'd probably leave as I don't know too much about it but I believe it is good stuff, particularly if overclocking. The CPU could be swapped for the Q6600 and save you a fair bit of money.

The motherboard is very expensive, you can get ones that will perform the same for less than half the price, unless you particularly want the Wifi and SLi capabilities of that motherboard I'd go for something like the Gigabyte DS3P or Asus P5N-E 650 SLi, both of which come in at ~£80.

The CPU cooler is also quite pricey, I'd personally swap it for one of the following - Noctua NH-U12F, Scythe Ninja or Tuniq Tower as all perform on about a par but you save around £10 on each.

Finally your PSU is absolutely fine but you should remove the case link as it goes to a competitor, just leave the name of the case e.g. Gigabyte 3D Aurora. :)

You'll be right to think so. Remember that those sites are their just to guide you & sometimes over estimate because people tend to skimp on the PSU which IMO is more or as important as the GFX!

That said, your PSU is more than enough for your current system.

Welcome to the forums BTW. Recommend you go through this. & in future, list the components rather than give links, helps give an opinion/reply quicker ;)

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

you should remove the case link as it goes to a competitor,

Oooops (changed) thanks for that.
The CPU cooler i think is somethign Im going for on the base that a mate has one and Im v impressed with how quiet it is, my current standard x2 3800+ Cooler is like a small plane taking off.

The CPU could be swapped for the Q6600 and save you a fair bit of money.
What is the performance like on the Q6600 in comparison to the Q6700 that I have, Im really trying to future proof this build for a cpl of years.

As for the motherboard. I was looking at this because I was told 680i is the stuff to look at and seeing as I'm going to be putting Vista Ultimate 64Bit on it I was told these chipsets are what works with Vista the best, although I could be and probably am V WRONG :p

If you know the CPU cooler is good (and it is) then go with it, just one small way to save a bit of cash.

The Q6600 isn't far behind in terms of raw clock speed and can be overclocked quite nicely but then so can the Q6700, I'm not 100% if the Q6600 is fully multiplier unlocked as one of the reviews by a user mentions it but it isn't in the OcUK blurb.

I don't know too much about Vista 64bit at the moment and the compatability with various products, maybe have a quick search in either the Motherboard sub-forum or the Windows sub-forum.

Thanks for changing the link as well. :)

Thanks Semi for all your help, Ill have a look in the forum and I'm browsing the Abit site now at the moment see what I can learn from there. Trying to figure out the major difference between the Q6600 and the Q6700 excpet for clock speed and I cant see any for now
