Having not been impressed with the 5080 reviews and put off by the pricing on the 5090, I have so far held off on upgrading my pc.
I've decided to go ahead and upgrade now, but I'm unsure whether to bite the bullet and pay for a 5080, or wait and see if 4090/5080/5090 gets any more reasonable and run the 3090 in a new set up for a while.
I have put together a spec of:
1 X Antec Flux PRO Full Tower Case - Black - £169.99
SKU: CAS-ATC-03468
1 X AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D Sixteen Core 5.70GHz (Socket AM5) Processor - Retail - £699.95
SKU: PRO-AMD-04501
1 X Asus ROG STRIX X870-F GAMING WIFI (Socket AM5) DDR5 ATX Motherboard - £400.00
SKU: MOT-ASU-03086
1 X Corsair Vengeance EXPO RGB 64GB (2X32GB) DDR5 PC5-48000C30 6000MHz Dual Channel Kit - £199.99
SKU: MEM-CRS-03749
1 X Asus ROG Strix 1200w Platinum 80 Plus Platinum Power Supply - £199.99
SKU: POW-ASU-03792
1 X ASUS ROG Strix LC II 360 Performance ARGB AIO CPU Liquid Cooler - 360mm - £224.99
SKU: HS-05C-AS
Grand Total: £1,906.90
I want a big case and to maximise air cooling as my office gets very warm and I don't want to have to run the AC every time I game just to keep the pc cool.
Does the build make sense? The CPU is a bit overkill to be honest, so I could drop that to the 9800X3D, but for now I have it included. Would you just fork out for a 5080 to go with it or hold off?
