Im going to change my car soon, and im really liking a 2002 MR2 for sale near me. The only gripe i have is it doesnt have leather seats.

To get them upholstered in leather costs allot so i was wondering if buying some sort of recaro's would be a good idea ? Leather ones if they make them?

Any ideas on what i can do or where to look for some decent car seats? I dont know how much i want to spend but i would have thought £500 sounds about an ideal figure. Any more then i might as well get the originals upholstered.

Cheers all

I have leather recaros (as per the integra type r ones as you can imagine) in my car and they are great if you are into that sort of thing (i no longer am).
if it were me then i'd get the original ones re-done in leather but then again i'm into stockness these days. Depends what you're doing with the rest of the car

Im not into modifying at all. I just like leather seats and the car i like doesnt have them unfortunately.

My dad is an upholsterer but it still would cost an arm and a leg to get it done with real leather.

There are quite a few with leather as standard but i havent found one that suits me (low milage, too old etc).

Hmm decisions decisions.

He sais it costs 300-400 for a decent hide (sp?) and around 400-500 for his employee to make it. Hes done allot or car seats before so hes good and aparently it isnt an easy job especially if you want a good finish.

Ive seen a cadillac hes done in cream leather and red piping and it was of the highest quality going. But then again it costs more then i can merrit.

Wait for a decent set or standard leather seats to arrive on ebay?

EDIT: there is a guy on there that will exchange your seats for some reupholstered leather ones for 500 quid, any colour you want.

These guys come highly recommended:

However they do a really good job and I'm afraid it won't be cheap.
I was quoted around £850+vat for the "works" on my vRS.

Now that does include all seats and door trims too.
Each set is custom made for your car etc.
It's a lot of money to spend and you'll never get that money back - the full leather won't add nearly £1k to your resell value in the future.
