Hi,

Id welcome any advice/suggestions on the following upgrade.

My aim is to have a 19" TFT Non Widescreen with a Dual PCI-E Capability should I chose to use it. I will also need a card capable of running on the 19" Native resolution comfortably. I will be buying the Monitor next year.
The main purpose of the rig will be gaming at max settings. I wont be overclocking anytime soon, much rather keep the service life long.

Abit AW9D Intel 975X (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-107-AB)
£140.99

- New board, has CF enabled. Solid capacitors and a broad range of nice features.

Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail (CP-128-IN)
£225.59

- Extra 2mb Cache on the E6400

As for cooler Im waiting to hear back from OCUK about compatibility (will it fit) on the mobo. Considering Zalman 9500-AT, Scythe Ninja or Arctic Freeze 7. Basically I want high cooling with minimal noise. Hoping Zalman will fit.

Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C5 TwinX (2x1GB) (MY-092-CS)
£176.24

- Cheap 6400 RAM, not interested in PC8000 too expensive. More expensive 6400 RAM will give a hardly noticable performance boost I reckon.

Connect3D ATI Radeon X1900 XT 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-053-CO)
£170.36

- Chose 256mb version, reckon this will be good enough to run on my 19"TFT native resolution. Have heard the 512mb would be better suited but for the price is it really worth it?

Western Digital Raptor 150GB WD1500ADFD 10,000RPM SATA 16MB Cache - OEM (HD-069-WD)
£168.01
Western Digital WDSC50RCW Secure Connect Serial ATA Cable (CB-000-WD)
£7.05

Fastest HD with the special cable.

Total comes to: £888.24 Not including the Cooler yet to be chosen.

What you guys think?

That'll be a very fast system. I'm quite fond of my AC Freezer 7 Pro so I think you'd do very well with it. They say the Ninja has the best performance if you're willing to spend the extra dough to get it.

That x1900xt will run a 19" very smoothly though I'd much prefer a widescreen model. Once you go widescreen you wont want to go back.
