Upgrade CPU

I have just bought myself BF;BC2 and although being a great game i have problems with lag as it seems my computer doesnt seem to be able to handle the game to well even on low settings.
I was wondering if an upgrade to my cpu could be the solution as the min specs for the game ask for a core 2 duo.
Would it be possible to upgrade my cpu alone?with the components i have at the moment and will my motherboards support a newer cpu,

The E2180 is a Core 2 Duo, just with a different name. You want an el-cheapo Quad core really...e.g. Q6600.

Its so cut back on features it shouldn't even have E**** name.

Ive looked up prices on all these processors and cant seem to find them cheaper than £100 is that a good price?
Ive been reading around and seeing as though i will be using the processor mainly for gaming the e8400 is favored above the q8300,and i can overclock it to higher.

Will there be a real performance difference between a q6600 and e8400?
and i think my motherboard is only 1066 fsb so will it still support either processor

Looks like your mobo should be fine with either, 2nd hand Q6600s go for £75-85 usually.
