upgrade dilema.

I have a K9a2 platinum v1 board that is Am3 ready. Phenomx4 9950 be 2.6ghz.
4gb ocz reaper ddr2 1066mhz. and a hd4870 512mb. and a 64bit os. Any ideas on the cheapest upgrade solution for the move to ddr3, will the k9 support ddr3. The 4870 is ok for the res i use. thx.

The change from DDR2 to DDR3 isnt worth it, you all ready have 4GB of RAM, so be happy.

i remember one of the mods said he tried the DDR2 to DDR3 upgrade a while ago. he honestly couldnt tell the difference

I have been told by a friend that at this time DDR2 is about the same speed if not faster thanks to the latency of DDR3. You can argue the MHZ of DDR3 makes it better but you can overclock some of the DDR2 RAM close to DDR3. I do not know this personally just what he has told me. So what I would do is wait until their is a viable benefit for upgrading.
