as if there werent enough questions in the titles im going to ask some more.
my current pc spec is:
evga 780i sli motherboard
intel core 2 quad q6600
2 x 1gig ocz 1066mhz sli ram (but sli ram isnt supported for 4 dimms, silly me)
nvidia 8800 ultra
and other components i arent worried about
so if i were to upgrade my pc (to play games of course)
what would i need to upgrade? and what do you reccomend as a good upgrade? should i upgrade to ddr3 or wait a little bit?

yes i have overclocked, and why 2 ati cards? how much of a prtformance increse will i get from crossfire? why not sli ?

hmm at that resolution you might benefit from the card then, see if you can find some comparisons between the cards

If you have to ask should I upgrade then you don't need too! You would know if you needed to upgrade.

However it may be fun to do so still.

At the moment DDR3 not offering anything over a good DDR2 system so I wouldn't bother personally.

Yep, you'll not get much bang for your buck with DDR3 at the moment.

Your best, and cheapest, upgrade would be RAM. You can buy 2x2GIG Black Dragon, OCZ or Corsair for cheap enough. DDR2 is still be the choice RAM at the moment. 4 GIG is a great ally for the modern gamer :)

Your card should play most things still, it's a 512 after all (i think).

The 4870x2 would be a nice upgrade, but you might need to check your PSU can handle it.

the ultra is 768 and psu is 720 watt. i was thinking of chaning the motherboard from the 780i to an asus one as i dont particularly like the 780i and i like the express gateway

I doubt it would justify £350 tbh. I'd wait a bit until things move on a bit more and then upgrade - as mdjmcnally said, if you have to ask then you don't need to upgrade yet! :p

the problem is you've got quite a good system already. If your happy with the FPS your getting in 1920 x 1200 in your games then theres no point in upgrading. Personally I think i'd save my money for a couple of months then buy a whole nwe systems, an i7 and what ever the fastest GPU is then
