need to upgrade my comp , for games got a very limited budget dont sell me anything dx10 i dont want it to expensive , just going for performance.

Probably allowed to spend around 3-400.

Course you can. Anything before the 8X00 series from Nvidia or 2X00 series from ATI is DX9.

I'd probably go for something like the below system which comes in well under £400.

whats your cpu? to be honest, i'd say your fine, really, and look at getting another gig of ram, and adding a shedload more hard drive space.
