Upgrade from 6800GT 256mb

U do realise that u dont have a PCI-E motherboard, ull need a new one if going down this route. I feel AGP has finally come to its grave and so this may be wise.
Also price to performance wise, u'll be better buying a new graphics card and motherboard than just buying an AGP.

Happy Shopping ;)

This has been said many a time. I know that AGP is at the end of its life as far as newly-made cards are concerned (apart from Gainward) but people (like myself) that do still have the high-end AGP boards dont really feel the need to surrender what we have and shell out a load of money for CPU, Mobo & RAM, as well as the graphics card. For a high-end replacement, you can easily shell out £1,000 without thinking about it.

With that kind of figure, spending over the odds for a high AGP graphics card is the only way to go to last until next year

something doesn't add up. You have an AGP motherboard and you say you bought a PCI-E 6800GT.

Was it quite hard to slot the gfx card in by any chance? Did you have to force it at all, as if the slot was the wrong shape?

(only messin with you :) )

Phhhttt :p

Must have been completley overclockers mistake if not PCI 6800GT was made as the card was 200% bought from the PCI section.

I think I'll make one of my upgrades a nice PCI-E ~£200 motherboard and a nice graphic card (by the time i have that kind of money the DX10 cards will be out).

Thanks for the help everyone! :)

Craig.
