Upgrade from 939 system

Decided to go down MM route and just picked up a Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3r motherboard, now my next question is what would be a cheap socket 775 processor to look out for that will be quicker than the opteron I currently have?

Also what memory route would you guys recommend to look out for DDR3 or 2, am thinking of 4gb?

Does good stuff especially if OC. This would definitely be faster then your Opteron.

I would have thought DDR2 still - it can be picked up for a song and would be a better match for a Core 2 CPU. DDR3 would surely be best bought alongside your shiny new Core i7 920 CPU not in the prospect of some future upgrade at a later date...

4Gb RAM would be good - unless you start doing Virtualisation work, etc...

guys is this mobo any gud "MSI 790FX-GD70 AMD 790FX " as compared to Asus crosshair III and M4.... deluxe version ,m talking in evry aspect?
overclocking , GPU capacity, power phase, PCI-e slots, well its specs shows that its better thn other two ASUS mobos, and ts supoorts 2100mhz ram aswell
