Upgrade from an old, old, 9800 pro!

All good stuff, thanks guys! Im currently undecided what to do - not sure whether to save a few quid by getting an Asus A8N-E or A8N-SLi mobo (as opposed to the DFi Lanparty one), or whether to get the AsRock one and save a packet (cos I wont need a new graphics card straight away)...but as usual, would like to give the graphics a bit of a boost, which is pushing me towards buying the 800XT as well...

Hi madmaxx,

Also consider the x850xt. A lot of horse power for the money and 2nd hand pci-e versions can be had for around £100.

Mine plays Oblivion at 1380x1024 at really impressive framerates (even outside!)!

Playing pc outside is ok in good weather, you know with a beer :) but much better inside in the winter months ;) LOL

Clearence corner... take your pick, but be quick as they wont last long...

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Clearance.html

Asus Extreme AX800XT /2DT ATI Radeon X800 XT 256MB DDR3 VIVO TV-Out/DVI (PCI-Express) - OEM £96.35 Including VAT, 11th card down.

PowerColor ATI Radeon X800 GTO 256MB - £76.32 Including VAT 12th card down. if your looking for both cards have enough power to keep you happy till DX10 :) although i would go for the GTO myself and clock it to death as the only difference i can see between them is that the Asus AX800XT`s GPU is 100Mhz faster, this you should be able to hit without too much effort with the X800GTO :D

Did you see the price of the X800 XTPE ?

Holy Moley !! £293 + shipping

If thats not an ad for pci-e I don't know what is :)

Also makes the X800 Pro Vivo very saught after :)

using one here on a 2Ghz opty 146, currently clocked to 2.65Ghz... will do 2.8 but nocked it down a touch due to summer. :) fantastic boards, very very future proof too.

Nice one, I think I will get the Asrock board, new cpu, and hang on a little while before choosing a graphics card! Thanks for all the advice folks :)
